WPS Coronavirus Guidelines

 March 12, 2020

Parents/Guardians,

As we gain information and awareness about coronavirus, Welch Public School would like to assure you we are working with the State Department of Education and local health department to help ensure that we have a safe and healthy learning environment for our students. We have included a letter from the State Department of Education on our website about Spring Break precautions.

Our custodial staff, teachers, and support staff are working hard to keep things disinfected and cleaned multiple times throughout the day.  We ask that you help us in this effort by talking to your child about the importance of following these measures:

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds frequently at home and at school. Elementary students will be taking additional breaks to wash their hands throughout the day.

  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  3. Keep surfaces and items clean and wiped down. This includes water bottles, cell phones, books, etc. We will be disinfecting surfaces, door knobs, and equipment in the classrooms throughout the school day.

  4. We recommend for parents to send water bottles for your children with their name on them, as we will not be using water fountains at this time.  We will have locations for students to fill water bottles as needed. Water bottle filling stations on the fountains will be installed over Spring Break and available for use.

  5. Avoid sharing food or drinks.

  6. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue and cough/sneeze into your elbow.

  7. Use hand sanitizer if washing your hands is not possible.  Hand sanitizer is available throughout the district.

  8. We will using alternatives to high fives.

  9. Bus Drivers are disinfecting seats and wiping down handrails after each route and have hand sanitizer on the bus for students to use.

  10. If your child feels sick - stay home

Thank you for discussing these methods with your child.  We hope we don’t have to implement any further action. We will keep you posted on any changes in this situation.  If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to call Mrs. Hall or Mr. Haskell at 918-788-3129.

Thank you,

Mrs. Hall/Mr. Haskell
