Welch BPA Competes at State Leadership Conference
Five members of the Welch chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) attended the State Leadership Conference in Tulsa in March. Members attending included: Allie Bradbury, Jessie Mountford, Austin Haskell, Gage Miller and Alexander Zacarias. Students and their contests are: Allie, Jessie & Alexander - Administrative Support Team; Allie- Fundamentals of Word Processing; Jessie -Fundamentals of Word Processing; Austin - Advanced Spreadsheets & Finance & Banking; Alexander - Fundamentals of Word Processing; Gage -Advanced Spreadsheets & Financial Math & Analysis.
Students competed all day on Monday at the Hyatt Hotel & Tulsa Tech, Peoria Campus. On Tuesday, they heard from state officer candidates and the keynote speaker. Chapter president Allie Bradbury participated in the Parade of Presidents. The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Cox Center.
All students were recognized for finishing in the Top Ten in one or more contests at the awards ceremony. Top Ten Finishers are: Austin Haskell, Banking and Finance; Alexander Zacarias, Fundamental Word Processing & and Management, Marketing & HR; Gage Miller, Intermediate Word Processing, and Jessie Mountford, Beginning Word Processing. The Administrative Support Team also finished in the top Ten and was made up of Alexander Zacarias, Allie Bradbury and Jessie Mountford.
National qualifiers are: Alexander Zacarias, 3rd place in Medical Terminology Concepts and 4th place in Fundamental Word Processing; Gage Miller, 2nd place in Financial Math & Analysis and Jessie Mountford, 2nd place in Fundamental Word Processing. BPA is sponsored by Gala Miller.
Welch BPA Competes at Nationals
Four members of the Welch High School chapter of Business Professionals of America attended the National Leadership Conference in Dallas May 4-8. Students competed in Fundamental Word Processing, Medical terminology Concepts, and Financial Math & Analysis. They also attended the general session, and awards ceremony, and participated in several tours including the George W. Bush Presidential Center, the JFK Sixth Floor Museum, and the ATT Stadium.
Students attending were Jessie Mountford, Alexander Zacarias, Allie Bradbury and Gage Miller. Welch BPA would like to thank the administration, board of education and the following businesses for their generous donations which helped to make the experience possible:
