Dear Welch Wildcat Family,
Public schools today face many challenges, and Welch Public Schools is not immune. It is an honor and a privilege to be provided the chance to guide the district through these difficult times. I am looking forward to working with Mrs. Hall, Mr. Haskell, and the rest of our staff over this next year.
I am a graduate of Miami High School. I received a B.A. Ed. in Social Studies Education from Northeastern State University, a Master of Education degree in Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma, and I am currently writing my dissertation at the University of Oklahoma, Tulsa. My wife, Madeline, is a fellow educator who has a Master of Education degree in School Counseling. We have three children, Harper, Hollis, and Heston. Harper will be in Kindergarten, and Hollis will be in Pre-K. They are very excited to be Welch Wildcats! My family has a long history in the community of Welch, and I am eager to make the transition.
During my career, I have worked in high school, middle school, and elementary school settings. These experiences helped me develop a thorough understanding of what education looks like across the grade-level spectrum. I have proudly taught children in the Oklahoma City area, and in Miami. In my time at Miami, I served as a middle school teacher, as an elementary Dean of Students, and for the last two years as Principal of Miami High School.
The most important and most influential role in a school is that of a teacher. Teachers are the difference makers. Time and time again, research shows that teachers are the number one determining factor in the academic success of students. It will be my number one goal as your Superintendent to provide our teachers with the support they need to be successful. Our top priority as a school district will be our students, and forming relationships with them is critical to our shared success.
I hope that in our time together, I can earn your respect and trust. I promise that I will try every day to work my hardest for our staff and our students. Over the next year, I expect to do a lot of observing and listening to establish a deep understanding of how Welch Public Schools operates.
When I became an educator, I never set out to be a superintendent. I set out to do two things: one, make a difference in kids' lives, and two, to make the world a better place than I found it. Our mission as we move forward is to provide the best possible education in Northeast Oklahoma to our students. It is my hope and prayer that you will join me in the journey ahead.
Moving Forward Together,
